Do you know the 12 Personality Traits of Successful Marketer?


In the book, Conversations with Millionaires by Mike Litman, Jay Conrad Levinson, enumerate 12 personality traits of successful marketer, or what he called guerilla marketer
1. Patience
Because marketing is not an event, it’s a process.


2. Imagination
You must realize the fact that people are assaulted with blizzard of direct mail, you must use your imagination, so they will not just toss your mail away, but be curious and open as what Jay give as an example is instead of putting just one stamp on it why not break that stamp into smaller amount of stamp, and have 11 or more stamp stick on your mail.

3. Sensitivity
You must be sensitive to the market, to the current time of the market, to where you are doing your marketing. You must also be sensitive to what your prospect is thinking at the moment.

4. Ego Strength
When you launch a marketing campaign the people who get bored first with it are the people close to you, you need the ego to stand up to those people and realize that the people who have only heard your message four times are certainly not bored.

5. Aggressiveness
You must be aggressive in your marketing campaign, know what weapons you have for marketing and use them aggressively, you can find 100 weapons Jay has published in their website gmarketingcoach.com, and you’ll be glad to know that 62 of these weapons are free.

6. They Embraces Change
You shouldn’t be scared to change, you change not just to change but to improve, be open minded about change and embrace it.

7. They Are Generous
To quote Zig Ziglar says “help enough people to get what they want, and you will get what you want’.


8. They Are Energetic people
You cannot conquer your foes win the battles and market aggressively unless you put forth the energy. Knowing is not enough.  You’ve really need to have the energy to do it, to get excited about the opportunities to do the things in marketing that your competitors have never dreamt about.

9. Mimicking Seagulls
Seagulls fly in circles in the sky. Ever increasing circles. Constant circles in the sky. That’s all they do is fly in circles and eventually they land because they see food and they eat their fill and then they go right back up in the sky and they fly in circles again.
The strongest instinct in the mind of the guerilla marketer, the guerilla business person,     or the guerilla entrepreneur is the idea of constant learning.

10. They Like People
They’re all people persons. They all enjoy being with people. They know that it’s people who help make what they are selling, sell what their selling, and who buy what they are selling.


11. They Are Able To Maintain Their Focus ( Read more about focus in my post Could This Be The Key To Your Success?)
You must not lose sight of the goals, maintain your focus and don’t get easily distracted.

12. They last and most important characteristic of successful marketers is that they always take Action.
They do things. They don’t talk about it or think about it. They actually take action on what they learn. Most people are great at absorbing information. They listen to the radio, they go on line, they read books, they listen to tapes, and they absorb a lot of information. But, only a small percentage of those people take action on what they’ve learned.

There goes the personality characteristics you need if you want to be a successful marketers and business owners or in anything you do, hope you find some time and follow what they do.
